Care for Some Soup?

Chicken Soup, by Jean Van Leeuwen, to be precise, or maybe not.... If you've got a cold, soup can make you feel better. But if you're a chicken with a cold, and Mrs. Farmer is making soup, maybe you should run away!

We hope you're feeling fine this winter, but if not, try this funny book. You can find more of our storytime books about feeling sick and feeling better here.

Button Up!

This week we're reading books about clothes and getting dressed. Button Up! Wrinkled Rhymes is a new book of poems all about clothes by Alice Schertle. Check it out and read about shoelaces, galoshes, jammies and of course, undies. And find more great clothing stories here.

Snow? Yes, Snow!

Let it snow, let it snow!
We love the snow and we love our snow-themed storytimes.

Penguins,
polar bears,
snowmen and snowgirls,
ice skating,
snowflakes and snow clouds!

Some of our storytime kids got to skate around on paper plates to music.

We also had paper snowflakes to hold as we whirled around in the wind.

Click here for some fun snow stories and here for penguins and polar bears.

Good Night!

Ahhhh, we pretended to sail off into dreamland by reading stories and singing songs about bedtime.
Well, actually many of our stories have characters that do NOT want to go to bed. Like the pigeon in the book Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems.

This funny pigeon has other adventures too!
Try some of these titles:

Family Stories

At this time of year, we love to spend time with our families, whether we go to visit them, or they come to visit us. Here are some of our favorite family stories (including lots of adorable babies). We hope you get to spend some fun time with your families!

The Stars Will Still Shine by Cynthia Rylant and Tiphanie Beeke is a beautiful book for celebrating the new year. Here's hoping we all "shall have ice cream three scoops high!"

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, everyone!
